About
Nicole Stinton has worked in the theatre, film&TV and entertainment industries for two decades across Australia and Asia. In her early career she focused on performance as an actor, singer, dancer and pianist. In the last decade she’s worked predominantly as a director, playwright and vocal coach, specialising in musical theatre, operetta and stylised theatrical productions.
A believer in the player-coach model, Nicole also works with young adults and senior students to help them develop as performing artists and industry practitioners. She lectures, teaches and coaches as a freelancer in a range of theatre areas, concentrating on musical theatre acting and the voice (spoken and sung).
When she’s not working in the performing arts, Nicole coaches and facilitates sessions for corporates and business leaders, focusing on public speaking, communication and emotional intelligence. She is a key-note speaker at business conferences and has a series of entertaining speeches called Secrets from actors that corporates need to know…
A published author, Nicole has written a range books on drama that are widely used in the Australian education system, as well as a business book that focuses on working effectively in the virtual environment.
Extensively trained Nicole has graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in Musical Theatre, she has a Bachelor of English in Theatre from Curtin and a Certificate of Classical Music in piano from WAAPA. To assist in her corporate work Nicole holds an MBA in Arts and Entertainment Management from Deakin University, a Graduate Diploma in Education from Nepean, a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training, and is a qualified Executive Coach and HBDI certified.
Recently Nicole returned to WAAPA and whilst juggling her professional theatre career and corporate work, she’s also working towards achieving a PhD in musical theatre acting.
