Yet most business schools don’t usually train students in communication, emotional intelligence, presenting or other essential soft skills. So how can a firm expect their people to perform well in these areas?

Fortunately actors are trained in these essential soft skills. In fact, communication, self-awareness and public speaking are part of the foundation of a performer’s creative success.

Nicole Stinton is both a trained professional actor and an MBA. Since graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in the 1990s she’s performed on stage and directed other actors to do so. In addition she’s worked as a corporate trainer, executive coach and key-note speaker for more than a decade across Asia-Pac, and even as far abroad as the UK.

Training

Today Nicole combines soft skills knowledge from her acting and directing career, with her Learning and Development (L&D) experience, to give leaders and team members a business advantage. She works across organisational structures from junior staff through to executive leaders, from front- to back-of-house.

Programs are highly experiential, enabling participants to walk away with practical tools and techniques that they can immediately use. Training sessions typically run from half to two full days, and focus either on:

• Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
• Presenting and Public speaking
• Business story-telling

As well as an MBA, Nicole holds a Certificate IV in Assessment & Workplace Training, a Grad.Dip in Education and is HBDI certified. Flexible in working with diverse cultures, she has delivered training sessions in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Italy and the UK.

Executive Coaching

Nicole coaches leaders and managers to work more effectively with diverse colleagues, overcome business relationship challenges and communicate more successfully to, ultimately, achieve strategy, career and performance goals.

To truly bring about durable change Nicole takes a holistic approach, working with coachees across functional, emotional and behavioural levels. She balances stretching and challenging individuals, with supporting and encouraging them.

HBDI (Hermman Brain Dominance Instrument), or another diagnostic, can be incorporated to increase the coachee’s self-awareness and help enable effective choices moving forward.   If a coaching relationship includes working on specific communication skills, Nicole utilises her acting skills to demonstrate techniques effectively. She also often enters into realistic work-place simulations and role-plays with coachees.

Nicole has coached senior leaders and managers in Australia and across Asia. Individuals are from a range of industries including banking and financial services, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, marketing and consumer goods.

Nicole specialises in coaching executive board members, managers moving into promotional positons and women in leadership.

Key-Note Speaking

Nicole’s Secrets from actors… series of key-note speeches is specifically created for corporate events and business conferences. Each speech is both highly entertaining and thought provoking, whilst offering audiences useful soft skills insights.

In these 20 to 40 minute key-notes, Nicole shares tips, tools and even the odd closely guarded acting secret with business professionals. Audiences are thoroughly engaged whilst discovering easy practical techniques they can use to help them in business.
